Welcome to my blog which aims to share my various running experiences, good, bad and indifferent with the hope that you the reader will be inspired, if nothing else, to not make the same mistakes as me.
By way of introduction, I’ve just entered the MV55 category having been running on and off for the past 15 years or so. Up until last year, when I joined my first running club, Radcliffe AC, I only did 1 or 2 races a year with the furthest being the Great North Run a very popular half marathon. Last year (2017) I completed around 40 races from a 1 mile flat blast around the paths of a local park to 14 miles across the hills, through rivers and peaty bogs of the Lake District. My preference is for a 5k or 10k road race and in 2017 I achieved my best ever times for both of these with 19:56 for the 5K and 40:19 for the 10K.
I’m very excited to have just begun my training to become a qualified running coach with England Athletics which I aim to complete during the year.
My other main goals this year are to transition my running style to be more efficient (aka faster!) and to improve my PB for the 5k, go sub 40 for the 10k and sub 90 for a half marathon.
In support of these goals, I will be adopting a different approach to my running nutrition and also trying out a new training methodology to help me train for the half marathon and possibly a marathon later in the year.
At the bottom of the page I have created a few categories for the different topics to help you navigate the posts more easily.
I sincerely hope that you will find the posts useful and please feel free to contact me if you want me to cover anything specific.
Most importantly make sure you are enjoying your running!
